Experiment 001 is paused and is not currently accepting new participants.

The instrument and the framework behind it are preserved. If you would like to hear if it reopens, or you are interested in piloting it with an organization, write to the Lab.

Introduction

What happens inside a human being when familiar ways of living, working, believing, and understanding the world no longer seem sufficient?

The Emerging Human Assessment is an exploratory instrument developed to help individuals reflect on their relationship to change, identity, and emergence. It is one of the Lab's early experiments in translating a conceptual framework into an interactive experience.

The question

Can an assessment help individuals recognize patterns in how they respond to personal and systemic transformation?

The instrument

The assessment asked 28 short statements. For each one, participants chose whether it was not like them, somewhat like them, or definitely like them.

Responses were read across four dimensions of the Emerging Human Framework:

  • Clarity
  • Agency
  • Coherence
  • Capacity

The pattern across those dimensions corresponded to one of ten Emerging Human profiles, each naming a different season of transition. The goal was not prediction. The goal was recognition.

Research status

The Emerging Human Assessment is an exploratory instrument. It is not a clinical or diagnostic tool, and it has not been scientifically validated. It was offered as a structured prompt for reflection, and as an early test of whether the Emerging Human Framework helps people name what they are experiencing.
